Wine rack from an old vegetable box

Radical recycling, Upcycled furniture

I’m not one for picking things up from the pavement – other than the odd piece of chewing gum (stuck to my shoe), I tend to leave things where they lay. There are the odd exceptions, such as the time I found an old wooden ‘fruit and veg’ box lying on a pavement. It was a bit tatty, and crudely built, but I took it home and upcycled it into the wine rack you see above. It was a fairly simple job, I used galvanised wire, a pair of pliers, and a satin finish varnish.
I’m not sure if you can still find boxes like this, if you can, let me know – I’d love to use them in more projects.

Recycling to make new, that’s the way to go! I like rustic feel it has, very apt also as it gives the impression of a wine crate.
