Starbucks sicky spill!

A Starbuck's lid turned into a picture of a child's face

A Starbuck's lid turned into a picture of a child's face

I always thought the lid on a Starbucks take-away cup looked like a mouth. To test my theory I added some more features using a permanent marker. What I didn’t realise however, was that with the addition of a carefully positioned spill, it looks like someone being sick (there’s no classy way of saying saying it, sorry!).

And that got me thinking about SMS/TXT symbols for faces – would this be a good one for being sick?

:-c<

Compare it to the photo above, I think they are a spitting image!

Two felt-tip pen super heroes

Felt-tip drawing of a super hero on a motorbike being attacked by spaceships

Felt-tip drawing of a jet pack flying super hero

Forget about super heroes battling the forces of evil, the real battle was between me and my son. It was felt-tip pen mayhem, but in a good way. He drew some crazy machines, I drew some apocalyptic battle scenes – and all before supper.

When the dust settled, the honours were even. Never-the-less I still decided to throw water over my effort, not in disgust, but to soften the colours. Once the paper had dried I then went over the edges with a black pen, and voilà, there you have it. I was pretty pleased, just wish I’d given the guy on the motorbike a forehead, he looks a like the missing link.

Portrait on a magnetic scribbler

A portrait of a baby's face drawn on a magnetic scribbler

I’m no stranger to the magnetic scribbler. I’d even go as far to say I’m a dab hand – especially at farmyard scenes, you know, cotton-wool sheep, ducks, cows… occasionally pigs. However, I’d never really tried drawing ‘proper’ picture until this portrait of my son Joshua. It wasn’t done from life, he’d never sit still long enough! I used a photo that I found stuck on the fridge.

I think I captured his likeness, all be it very crudely. I could have done better if my kids hadn’t turned the surface of the scribbler into braille by hammering it with the stylus.
