It’s been a very exciting year. I recently gained my 2000th subscriber and my 2000th Facebook fan (thanks everyone). However, the highlight, undoubtedly, was winning the Webby Award and Webby’s People Voice Award for best personal blog.
With over 10,000 entries from around the globe the Webby Awards are regarded as the ‘Oscars’ for the Internet, just being nominated is an honor, so winning both awards in my category was a huge thrill (an even bigger thrill was flying to New York to collect them).
And the accolades didn’t stop there. How tweets are made was selected by industry professionals for inclusion in the prestigious Creative Review Illustration Annual (a yearly round-up of the best illustrations from around the world).
Whatimade.com was also chosen as the San Francisco Chronicle’s site of the week and showcased in Practical Web Design (the world’s best-selling magazine for web designers and developers). Individual projects have appeared on Boing Boing, CraftGawker, One Pretty Thing, WhipUp and many other popular craft and DIY websites.

I was also commissioned by Mark Frauenfelder, the Editor-in-chief of Make: magazine, to produce a regular What I Made column. I have also guest blogged on popular craft blogs such as Crafty Crow, and been commissioned to produce craft projects for Craftzine.com.
I have been featured on Craftypod, the personal website of Diane Gillieland, the post was titled: People Who Are Freaking Geniuses (an Occasional Series): Scott Bedford.
Whatimade.com even made it onto Fox TV and was also featured on a popular German Internet channel.
